Good food, very friendly staff

Consistently good! Never experienced a place where food is great and prepared quickly with such predictable results! Staff friendly and salad bar always fresh. Can be crowded on auction day (Saturdays). Try the chicken fried chicken or onion rings.

Really good chicken fried steak... Nice and tender. Would have liked a little bigger baked potato and a little softer. But I still ate it!Wii try again next time in the area.

Really good food. The hamburger steak was really good. My friend had Ribeye. Was excellent. We will be coming back.

I like to consider myself a burger connoisseur of sorts and let me tell you, the burger I had at this place was one of the best I've ever had.

Food was good. Nice salad bar. Service needs some serious improvements! Waiter never came back to ask how our food was. Finally brought us tea and just set the pitcher on the table. Even the girl who brought our food handed the plates to my daughter to pass out! Like they were too lazy to do their jobs. What a shame. And we were a group of 6. Still the food is good. So I gave 4 stars.

Very busy for a reason. Love the hustle and bustle of this small but great restaurant. Food is always great. The chicken fried steak is not a frozen patty so its a slice of handmade deliciousness. Prices aren't bad either! Service is nice and helpful.

Excellent breakfast. Nothing fancy, but if you want some traditional, down-home food, this is your place. Thick cut bacon, huge fluffy pancakes, non-stop coffee, oh yes! Super affordable as well!

This is a rundown local restaurant that serves great food at unbelievably low prices. When I say run down I mean the building and restaurant area is in pretty bad shape. If it were just about the food then I would rate this restaurant five stars. The upside to visiting this restaurant is that you get a true taste of what the local culture is like. I think it's just important that you know that this is not a fancy place. But it serves great breakfast food and they are friendly.

I have been here twice in six days. First day I had the chicken fried steak. It was HUGE and delicious. It took me two meals to finish it. The baked potato was....odd. It was skinless and I have never been presented one like this. This very well could be that I only work here and am accustomed to a different culture of food. The second day I had the hamburger steak and fries. The steak and fries were wonderful. Moreover the dark gravy was AMAZING. The only reason I gave 4 stars vs 5 is that the restuarant could seriously use some updating. I get that its next to a cattle market and all. Nonetheless, it could use some better lighting and a few touch ups. Lastly, the young ladies that work there are very friendly and hospitable.

The place is old. The food is good. The service is outstanding.You will leave there full.A hidden gem. Darn it I'm still full.

The locals pointed out this place to me and I'm glad they did because I otherwise would have missed it. (It's easy to drive right past it as you enter Gonzales from the west.) Really enjoyed the food and the staff managed to handle the lunch-time crush of traffic. If you want a bonus while you're visiting the city, check out the local jail. It's a genuine 19th century lockup with a lightless, solitary cell and many other "features".

I have to say this place is a crown jewel to Gonzales Texas in the restaurant area. Place have a good atmosphere and is clean.Are waitress was polite and kind and recommend us the local favorites.i have to say if your looking for a good place to eat lunch, breakfast, and dinner.make this a stop.you will not regreat it.

I haven't seen a restaurant this bad in a very long time. I figured the waitress was taking so long because maybe she was helping prepare the food. Well the foodwas basically expired leftovers with a hint of please clean something and facial hair hair from the waitress. I've never given anyone a bad review before. But this place has the food and service of a prison war camp that's in violation of the Geneva Convention. On the other hand it's a great place to get dirty looks

This place was a pleasant surprise. We typically have used Yelp to find places, but there really aren't many in Gonzales.Popped up Google as a highly rated place, and for good reason. I had the ribeye and it was done perfect and tasted great. Got a trip to the salad bar and that was more than enough food. Trying to stay keto now and this place works.It's not much to look at and it's not some fancy steak joint, but the food is really good.

Nice family restaurant. The menu doesnt really reflect the name (Cow Palace with one steak?), but what they serve is good, and the service and the people are great.

As we were passing through town, we decided to try something different. Google highly recommended this restaurant.Food was descent, customer service was not. They definitely need to work on greeting their customers with smiles and check tables frequently.

Great place to eat. Really good biscuits and sausage gravy, and also great chicken fried steak.

My favorite place to have lunch in Gonzales. Chicken fried steak fingers are the best and those enchiladas! Staff is always friendly and quick. Great selection of items on the salad bar. 12-1pm here is BUSY. So you may find yourself waiting for a table. You won't be disappointed.

Great service and great local atmosphere

If you like good 'ol Texas cooking, then stop here! The fried shrimp is super good. The salad bar is always clean and fresh and they have good service.

Great food and service for a great price.

Casual place with delicious food! We enjoyed the fried mushrooms (they were GIANT!). Hubs had the chicken fried steak and I had the chicken fried chicken. Both were perfectly cooked and tasty!

Each Friday, the restaurant serves a dinner of "All You Can Eat" fried catfish, sides included. Their fish has a very clean flavor, all the dark underside skin has been removed. My husband always does the cooking on Friday night. All I have to say is he certainly does an awesome job!

This place left you curious on the way in, but the service was pleasant, little wait on the food, and soooooo delicious. I had the chicken at it's best. Yum!

Great food however my car was hit in the parking lot and they left it as is. Nice surprise to come out to after a good lunch.

Had the BLT. Fries were soggy. Sandwich was "chewy " it was okay. Maybe I came here at the wrong time. I would come back again if I'm in the area.

Nice reaustrant. It was clean and friendly staff. Plenty of choices on the menu. We had breakfast and my eggs were prepared as per my request. Very tasty sausage and hash browns were tasty. I would go back.
